Tidal Flood Protection Ordinance

Marine engineering and environmental consulting support to the City of Hollywood for adoption and implementation of a Tidal Flood Protection Ordinance, as mandated by Broward County. First, an analysis was performed on the City’s draft model ordinance with suggestions for a tidal barrier ordinance. The analysis entailed meeting with multiple stakeholders and researching neighboring municipalities ordinances, as well as GIS map review and engineering conceptual design.

Supporting Broward County’s leadership in the challenge of sea level rise required investigation of internal technical expertise to recommend enhancements to the model ordinance specific to the needs and characteristics of the City of Hollywood. The first task of this project is complete, as the team prepares to assist the City during public outreach and implementation.
