Cummins Cederberg is currently providing dredge and sedimentation mitigation engineering services for Crandon Park Marina, where significant shoaling within portions of the marina basin has restricted vessel access and reduced usable slips. The team performed detailed field investigations, including bathymetric surveys, geotechnical investigations, and environmental resource surveys, to define existing conditions, quantify sediment accumulation, and understand environmental resource constraints.

Based on these analyses, Cummins Cederberg developed dredging designs which will restore navigable depths within the marina basin and key slips, including defined dredge footprints, target elevations, and estimated volumes. Sediment characterization and testing were completed to support permitting and inform dredged material management strategies, including disposal and potential reuse options. Additionally, bulkhead extensions and shore perpendicular groins were incorporated into the design as sedimentation control measures to minimize future sediment accumulation and reduce the need for continuous maintenance dredging. The dredging and sediment stabilization measures are currently in the environmental permitting phase. Impacts to seagrasses and mangroves have been avoided and minimized to the greatest extent practicable. Following environmental permit issuance, preparation of bid and construction documents is anticipated, followed by bidding support and construction administration services.
