The plan included an 18-foot-wide public promenade for marina guests, tourists, and residents to enjoy an unrestricted view of the water. This redevelopment was carried out in conjunction with the construction of the City’s newest parking garage, passive use park, and improved pedestrian walkways.

The proposed dredging of the marina increased the water depths to –17’ MLLW, creating access for larger vessels that required short-term dockage as they transited the recently dredged Intracoastal Waterway. The marina project attracted boaters drawn to the convenient location close to the historic Ft. Lauderdale beach, the Las Olas parking garage, and to the shops and businesses located on Las Olas Boulevard. The project also supported the growth of the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, which was an immense economic driver to the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Cummins Cederberg secured the Broward County Environmental Resource License, FDEP Statewide Environmental Resource Permit, State Lands Lease Modification, State Lands Easement, collaborated on the State Lands Deed Modification, secured the USACE Standard Individual Permit, and negotiated the USACE Consent-to-Easement to authorize project construction. Additionally, several permit modifications were secured and were in process to address conditions identified during construction.

Construction drawings and specifications were prepared, and administration services were provided throughout construction. Permit compliance services were also provided during construction to meet full compliance with county, state, and federal environmental permit requirements.
